BAUXITE
Bauxite, which is a mixture of aluminum oxide and hydroxides with a hardness of 1-3 and a density of 2.5-3.5 gr/cm3, has an important place in world trade as it is the main ore used in the production of aluminum metal.
Bauxite is a mixture of aluminum oxide and hydroxides with a hardness of 1-3 and a density of 2.5-3.5 gr/cm3. 90% of the metal aluminum production in the world is obtained from this ore. In this respect, bauxite ore has an important place in world trade. Bauxite is a mixture of diasporite (Al2O3.H2O), boehmite [AlO(OH)], gibbsite (hydrargilite) [Al(OH)3] minerals and generally contains silica, iron oxides and TiO2.
Bauxite is used in different fields in industry depending on its chemical composition. 85-90% of bauxite is consumed in the production of alumina and aluminum in the metallurgical industry.
